When most people think about Artificial intelligence (AI), they consider the implications it may have in disparate industries. However, many fail to understand that AI can be an umbrella and that it’s going to impact every industry in the next 5 to 10 years.
AI has the capability to integrate between different systems, different data sets, industries, and types of logic. That’s why when you go to OpenAI, you can be a writer who writes articles, a poet who writes poems, or a legal expert who composes legal documents.
So believe it or not, AI is not so much about the code, the industry, or the objective. AI is more about the types of questions that you ask and the data sets that you need to reach an ultimate objective.
For many consumers, AI is still an abstract concept that’s difficult to understand, but tech giants are intrigued. Recently, Microsoft invested $1.5 billion into OpenAI.
If you’re interested in AI, you should visit futuretools.io to learn more about the different AI applications and tools that you could use today. How does this apply to your business?
More importantly, how can you make money from AI? One execution that works like a charm is called the AI Microsite strategy.
Creating Microsites with AI
A microsite is basically a very niche website that actually starts from scratch. The intention is to dominate a tiny section of an industry and a niche category on Google search results and Paid Search.
What Purpose Do These AI Microsites Serve?
Let’s start with an example: you have an e-commerce website that sells radio-controlled (RC) toys. If you go to search for “RC toys” or “Buy RC toys” and scroll all the way to the bottom of the search engine results page (SERP), you’ll see more suggestions from Google.
Alternatively, if you enter the keyphrase “RC toys” into a tool like SpyFu, you’ll discover the universes under that specific keyword. For example, if you’re into RC toys, you might like RC planes, RC boats, or RC trucks — these are all different keyword universes.
Again, it is impossible for a website to rank top three on Google for all of these different keyword universes. But what if you had the best prices, the best selection, and the best access to manufacturers for RC boats in the United States?
Infinite eCommerce Possibilities with Microsites
Domain selection is very important here, and this strategy works beautifully for local businesses. So, create a site with a domain like “rcboatsusa.com.”
However, that’s still a very generic term. It’s not niche enough, and the competition out there is fierce for RC toys. You might rank for RC boats, but the odds of you ranking there are still not great.
And how much money do you make from RC boats? If you sell one RC boat, let’s say you’re going to make 150, $200. It’s not enough revenue to justify this type of strategy.
What if I was a mortgage broker in Miami, Florida?
What if you were only focused on consumers looking to buy a house around Coral Gables in Miami, Florida? How much money would you make as a mortgage broker or a realtor if you sold a million-dollar home in Coral Gables, Miami, Florida?
Anywhere from $20,000 to $50,000? So the average order value (AOV) is big enough for us to justify this strategy because we wouldn’t really need thousands of visitors, but merely 500 to 1,000 unique targeted visitors to that website.
This is when this strategy really works like a charm. With this strategy, you could make anywhere from $50,000 to $250,000 a year.
What are the Benefits of Creating Multiple AI Microsites?
- Increased Visibility Online
- Improved User Experience (UX)
- Optimized Lead Generation
- Maximized Return On Investment (ROI)
- Optimized Cost-Effectiveness
Increase your visibility online.
Microsites can target specific keywords and topics, making it easier to rank higher in search engines and attract more qualified leads.
Improve your user experience (UX).
Microsites can be designed and optimized specifically for a specific target audience, providing a better user experience and increasing the likelihood of conversion.
Optimize your lead generation.
By targeting long-tail keywords, microsites can attract more specific and qualified leads, increasing the likelihood of conversion and reducing the cost of lead acquisition.
Maximize your return on investment (ROI).
By focusing on a specific target audience, microsites can generate more qualified leads and drive a higher return on investment.
Optimize your cost-effectiveness.
Compared to a full-scale redesign or marketing campaign, microsites can be an affordable way to quickly and effectively reach new target markets and generate leads.
How Do You Implement The AI Microsites Strategy?
So now that we’ve covered the domain name that you’re going to select, let’s get into the strategy.
Finding target keywords for your Microsite.
Start with 10 long-tail keywords only. Let’s use Rolex as an example.
Let’s say we registered usedrolexcoralgables.com, and then under that, we’re going to have 10 pages, 10 product pages, and 10 content pages. The homepage targets “used Rolex Coral Gables.”
Another page targets “pre-owned Rolex Coral Gables,” and yet another targets “certified Rolex Coral Gables.” The other six or seven pages target very popular Rolex models, such as “Rolex Daytona,” “used Rolex Daytona,” or “used diamond Rolex.”
Creating content for your microsite pages using AI.
To create content for those 10 pages on your microsite, you go to ChatGPT and you tell AI to write these articles. These articles must use 2,000 words or more, but don’t expect the AI content to be perfect.
But, ChatGPT doesn’t write 2,000-3,000 word articles!
You need an outline. Use ChatGPT to write an article outline for your keyphrases. In the case of our example, we’ll go with “used Rolex in Coral Gables.”
Once you have your outline, copy and paste it into a separate document. Now, for every section, ask the AI to write 300-word sections for you. This probably takes around 30 minutes, and you have a 2,000- to 3,000-word article.
The next part is very important because AI can leave footprints.
You must remove that footprint for the Google algorithm to work. So there’s another tool called Writer.com.
Copy and paste your 2,000-3,000 word article into Writer.com, optimize it, and do this for 10 to 11 different subjects.
In the end, you have about 10 – 11 articles that are 2,000 to 3,000 words long and ready to go.
Setting up your hyper-specific Microsites.
After registering your domain name, navigate to WordPress.com and create a WordPress site. (The design and structure don’t matter too much.) Create a ‘Contact Us’ page and link back to your main website’s ‘Contact Us’ page.
You can also use this for lead generation purposes so people can contact you. Just put a contact form on each page so it’s easier to reach out and convert customers.
For e-commerce, your prospects find one of these sites, click one of your links, and go to your e-commerce store. For lead generation or B2B sales, your prospects would follow the same steps to contact you and become inbound leads.
How Do You Maintain Your AI Microsites Strategy?
Once your websites are ready (in terms of content and links), you must install some plugins to keep your microsite functioning. To optimize your titles and meta descriptions, you’ll need the All-In-One SEO plugin.
To ensure that Google indexes your pages properly, you’ll need to submit an XML site map to Google Search Console.
Finally, you must build 3 – 5 backlinks every month for each site.
Increasing visibility, acquiring backlinks, and tracking your Microsite traffic.
Backlinks build authority for your site so that it’s indexed and ranking high on the SERP.
Install Google Tag Manager and make sure all your tags are set up properly. You can use the same pixels as your main e-commerce business website. This is because whoever is visiting your microsites may also be in the target audience for your main website.
This empowers you to retarget this audience with your main brand name. But remember that this traffic is really niche; it is so specific that you would have never ranked for with your main website.
Finding new angles for new microsites.
If you sell nationwide, navigate to trends.google.com. Input your keyword into the search function to discover the top three cities, states, or metropolitan areas in which people search the most for the keyword.
Since you have this microsite strategy for one angle, all you have to do now is rerun the AI Microsite strategy. You can have 3, 5, or 10 angles for the cities you want to target and it takes only 90 – 120 days to dominate the city searches.
This is an ongoing strategy — it is not “set it and forget it.”
Essentially, at the end of 12 months, this traffic could be worth millions for you. But every month, you must add two to four sections to these sites.
The site map needs to look active and, as a last step, spend a few hundred dollars to get paid traffic to these sites. It can be on the Google Display Network or on YouTube — either way, Google loves to see traffic from Paid Search!
